About

Threat Brief is a weekly brief for the people who run university IT. Every week, every AI-era security story from public sources is read and cut down to the few that touch a campus. Each one gets a verdict and one thing to do.

Patch now means exploitation is happening or imminent and campuses commonly run the product. Check exposure means it depends on how you’ve configured something. Watch means it’s credible but unconfirmed.

The Wire shows every story from about fifty public sources, sorted automatically for campus relevance by fixed rules, with CISA KEV and EPSS exploit data on each CVE. You can filter it down to the products you run and save that view on your browser, or follow it as RSS. Nothing reaches the brief without a person reading it.

Threat Brief is written by Peter Odintsov independently of his employer, and the views are his own. Stories come from public sources and are sorted automatically. A person picks and writes every item in the brief. Nothing here describes any specific institution’s systems.
